Moebius Models began in the early 2000s in Florida and sought to rekindle the popularity of classic sci-fi and model horror kits. The company filled a gap produced when an earlier model company called Polar Lights stopped making kits.

Many earlier kits made by Moebius Models were updated reissues of previously popular Polar Lights kits. The company also began to produce new models.

The first kit Moebius Models produced was a new issue of a Dr. Jekyll as Mr. Hyde kit. Many enthusiasts loved this model and felt that it completed their collections.

Since the first model kit, the manufacturer's offerings have expanded to include models of characters and ships from movies and TV shows like “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” the 1966 Batman TV series, “Battlestar Galactica,” “Lost in Space” and other popular media.

Many modelers appreciated the rise of this company because it filled a gap in the modeling industry. Only Moebius Models offered a specific niche of products like sci-fi, fantasy and monster models.

Moebius Model manufacturing includes an in-depth design process to match the specifications of whichever character, car or spaceship the model resembles. Each model showcases a detailed design to capture the original inspiration as closely as possible. Moebius Models designs all products in the United States and manufactures them outside of the US, using plastic materials.
