In 1961/62 Chevy made a drastic styling change to their full-size Impala car line. It marked the end of the wild fins era. The ’62 Hardtop featured the new “convertible roof” design. Today, the 911 Carrera 3.2 is considered to be one of the best classic Porsches out there. Between 1984 and 1989 more than 76,000 911 Carrera 3.2s were built in Zuffenhausen. These were the last of the early 911s, and they played an important part in the constant evolution of this automotive icon.

In the 2017 movie “The Fate of The Furious”, Dominic Toretto is not the only hero in the movie, so is his Plymouth GTX. This is a familiar scenario for the Fast & Furious™ movie series. It has become not only Universal’s number 1 franchise, but also the 6th highest grossing series of all time at over 5 billion in sales. The Plymouth GTX first appeared in 1967 as a model of the Satellite and continued until 1971. In 1971 it had 3 engines choices available including the 440 “Six-Pack” pumping out 385 horsepower. It benefitted from a special camshaft, stronger valves and big-port cylinder heads. Sadly only 3,000 GTXs were made in 1971.

In 1972 Chevrolet® started importing a small pickup truck from Japan which they called the Chevy® LUVTM. It ran though 4 model generations before being discontinued in 2012. The 1969 Chevelle® was the second year of this generation, but it continued to be America’s “Most Popular Mid-Sized” car. It featured small changes from the 1968 model. The SSTM 396 was a $347.60 option package and the 396 c.i. was rated at 325 horsepower in the basic package. The Chevelle® stayed in the Chevy® line up until 1978. But in 1969 it was the height of the Muscle Car wars and the Chevelle was the king of the hill. In fact, you could order a special 396 c.i. with up to 375 horsepower. There were also dealer specials under the “COPO” program, which added to the Chevelle reputation as the best muscle car.

The 1967 Corvette® was the fifth and final year for a body style that started in 1963. Production problems delayed the new body and the Corvette design group scrambled to do something with an already four-year-old design. They removed trim to clean up the body surfaces, side fender engine air lovers were changed to a five-vent design, the gas cap was body color, new back-up light design and new rally wheels were added. Small block cars retained the same hood from 1965, but big block cars had a hood unique to the '67 which featured a hood scoop and painted stripe. The interior had a new seat upholstery, center mounted emergency brake, and flat dash knobs. Seven different engines were offered which ranged from 300hp 327 cubic inch small block to a big block 427 cubic inch L-88 engine.
